Of Being Happy..
I had a long talk with my eldest boy last night. I can sense that somewhere, somehow he is not happy. Not happy maybe with how we treat him as a firstborn. Not happy maybe with how much responsibilities we give him as a firstborn and a big brother to six other siblings. Not happy maybe to have to be at home during this school holidays when he can be somewhere else with somebody else who can make him happier than we can...

My second boy too is not that happy.. Too much homework, and not enough time to relax..

Now, I'm not happy...

What is happiness, actually? There's a quote I remember reading through surfing the net, I'm going to share it with you here : "

We tend to forget that happiness doesn't come as a result of getting something we don't have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have." -- Fredrick Koenig

Sometimes it takes losing something for us to realise how good that something was to us. We tend to appreciate things more when they're gone. And sad to say, most of the times it takes us losing someone before we realise how good that someone has been to us.

Why cannot we be happy with what we already have? Why do we have to wait for the sad moment to come - when we lose that someone - and then to only be able to remember how the good times were in order for us to feel happy??

Why do we have to look for greener pasture? Why can't we be happy with our current jobs? I, too, have a job - not too bad though - but am I happy with it? Why can't I make myself happy with it?

I really have to learn to make myself happy from now on...

I would like to end this entry by sharing with you a photo I grabbed from one of the popular Malaysian blogs owned by ILHAM. (ILHAM, if you're reading this, thanks for the photo and keep on blogging.) I like it because it does remind me of the times when my kids were small...minus the dog, cat and hen lah, of course..

The happiest people in the world are not those who have no problems, but those who learn to live with things that are less than perfect.

I'm happy by just looking at the photo...
