Mr. Forgetful
I am becoming more forgetful nowadays. I forget appointments, I forget meetings (which is good sometimes..), I forget where I put my things and I forget whether I've taken action or not on some of the things that arrive on my table. And I'm only 43!

People say that forgetting is normal and necessary. Your brain is bombarded with millions of bits of information every day. All of this information could not possibly be stored, nor is it important enough to be remembered for any length of time. The mind decides what
information is unimportant and immediately disregards it. Mmm.. More like a hard disk to a computer, once you reach full capacity you start to delete some things that are no longer important.

Why do we forget things? I remember an old warning that if you eat sugar already visited by ants - and if you eat the ants too - you tend to lose your memory faster with age. Did I do that when I was young? Mmm.. I can't remember, so what does that tell you..? :)

Ask experts or browse the web and you will find out that forgetfulness is one of the symptoms of stress. Burn-out level stress can result in unrestful sleeping that can result in memory loss.

Now, do I have stress, especially at work? Mmm.. maybe but burn-out level stress..? I don't think so. Unrestful sleep maybe because I always sleep in late browsing the web and updating this blog.. :)

Now, how do you improve your memory? Surprisingly, (according to experts lah..) one of the best first steps is to pick up your running shoes. A person who is physically fit, has low cholesterol, and is eating and sleeping well is more likely to have improved circulation to the brain. This results in a greater supply of acetylcholine, which leads to a sharper memory.

Conversely, poor nutrition, excessive drug and alcohol use, sleep deprivation, and excessive stress can reduce blood flow to the brain, reducing the supply of acetylcholine and negatively impacting memory.

You see...this running thing can do wonders actually. Not only can it help you look young, it can also make you think like a young person. Yup, I'd better do my regular running again...
