The String of Life
Every night when there's tazkirah, no matter who the ustaz is, the ustaz will always start with reminding us all how lucky we are to be able to still be around this Ramadan and we will never know whether we can still make it come next Ramadan.

I remembered the opening speech of an act during our UPM-IPTS dinner at Istana Hotel the other day. They were about to perform a nasyid and the lead singer started with showing us a string.

I've heard this before but just for the sake of sharing it with you readers. The length of the string represents our life-length. Everybody born into this world is given each an own string of life. Some may get a longer string than others. As each day passes, some part of the string is cut, until you run out of string to cut.

So now, if you can look at your own string, do you wish to know how much string is left?

Since we cannot know how long our strings are, why not just assume then that our string is not that long anymore. With what is left, we'd better be prepared to face the time when there's no more string to be cut.

Yup.. may all of us get the most from this Ramadan, because we may not be able to see the next Ramadan. Salam Jumaat.
