Malam Raya
It's 9.45pm malam raya. It is the beginning of Syawal and of course Ramadan Al-Mubarak has just left us. Hopefully we all got the most from Ramadan this year.

Used to be malam raya would be the busiest night of the year. Drapes to change, cushion pillow to replace, furnitures to move and rearrange. At the kitchen, mom and sister would stay up finish making kueh raya or rendang for tomorrow.

Things have changed, though.

Most of us now spend the night watching TV.
My elder kids and their cousins are watching the Disney movie 'Atlantis' on the Disney channel.
My younger kids are playing bunga api.
My wife, my sister and some others are already too tired after a hard day's work and heavy dinner.
My brother is reciting the takbir alone in the living room.
My father is in his room, most probably asleep.
My mother is her usual self. (Hers will be another story on another day.)
My maid is ironing our baju melayus.

Anyway, have a Happy Eidul Fitri for all Muslims out there. There's a pasar lelong at the pasar ramadan lot tonite and I still have to find a few songkoks for my kids. Will go there around 11.00. Hope to get a bargain, otherwise better not call it pasar lelong then...
